United Way of the Coastal Empire hopes to raise $8.6 million in its 2013 General Campaign until Nov. 22nd, and WSAV News 3 Coastal Sunrise is helping the cause by featuring a lapel pin of a different United Way member organization on his lapel every week.

This week, we'll take you to the American Cancer Society of the Coastal Empire. October is breast cancer awareness month, but the local chapter seeks to advocate and coordinate cancer care for all of those stricken by the disease, with the hope of eradicating cancer as a health concern forever.

The United Way of the Coastal Empire serves 61 member organizations in four counties.
